Five Jackets Earn NFCA Academic All-America Honors
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its girls got game Academic All-American list, based on the 2007-08 academic year. The Defiance College softball team had five individuals earn recognition, as Kayla Crager, Robin Diers, Justine Johnston, Becky Petrie and Tasha Stucke each garnered NFCA Academic All-American status.

Second Half Woes Hurt DC in Loss to Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERON, Ohio – Defiance was unable to overcome a strong second half by Mount Vernon Nazarene, falling 77-63 on Tuesday, November 18. The loss is the Jackets first of the 2008-09 campaign, snapping a three-game winning streak that dates back to last season.

Snyder Named as HCAC Defensive Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Just two days after leading Defiance to its fourth-straight win, Keith Snyder has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Snyder turned in 10 tackles and ran back an interception 40 yards for a touchdown to seal DC’s 27-13 win over Bluffton.

DC Starts Season with Victory over Olivet
OLIVET, Mich. – Defiance opened its 2008-09 campaign on a high note, cruising to a 78-59 victory over Olivet College on Saturday, November 15. The Jackets have now won their last three season-openers, a streak that dates back to a 68-66 win over Albion in 2006.
