Steve VanDemark returns for his second season with the Lady Jacket coaching after joining before the 2010-11 season. VanDemark graduated with an English degree from Defiance College in 1976, and has served at the school as a college trustee and trustee fellow for more than 20 years. During that time, his assignments have included chairing the school’s Marketing and Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Committees.

VanDemark is a 40-year employee of the Defiance Publishing Company, and has been the general manager there since 1985. Last summer, VanDemark retired from Rurban Financial Corporation after chairing that board of directors for 15 years.

VanDemark and his wife Patty reside in Defiance and have two grown children.
