Don Perna is in his fourth year with the Defiance College football program and is primarily responsible for coaching the running backs.

Perna brings plenty of coaching experience with him to DC, after having worked on the Hicksville coaching staff in numerous roles for nine seasons. Perna served as the head coach for the Aces on the gridiron for two years, after seven seasons as an assistant coach.

He is familiar with the Purple and Gold, as he lettered four times from his defensive back position from 1995-1998 for the Jackets, before graduating with a degree in elementary education in the spring of 1999.

Perna earned a master’s degree in teaching from Marygrove College in 2005 and currently teaches at Hicksville Elementary.

Perna resides in Mark Center, Ohio, with his wife, Liz, and two daughters Victoria (6) and Addison (4).
