GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference unveiled its 2009 All-HCAC Team for baseball on Wednesday. Defiance was well represented on the list, placing five on the all-conference team.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2009 season came to an end on a sour note on Sunday, as Rose-Hulman cruised past the Yellow Jackets for a 23-1 victory to wrap up the third seed in the upcoming Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Defiance offense had no answer for the HCAC’s top-rated pitching staff and suffered 11-1 and 12-1 losses on Saturday at Rose-Hulman. DC mustered only two runs and 10 hits on the day.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Friday's HCAC contest between Defiance and Rose-Hulman has been rained out and rescheduled for Sunday at noon. The two teams will now begin their weekend series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance got a crisp outing from Brad Timofeev on the mound and extended its Rutter Field opponents’ scoreless inning streak to 21-consecutive innings with a 2-0 win over Manchester on Wednesday afternoon. The victory was DC’s second-straight shutout on its home turf.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Tuesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference duel between Defiance and Manchester has been rained out and rescheduled for Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Due to the change DC's non-conference game at Heidelberg, which was originally slated for Wednesday, has been cancelled and will not be made up.

ANDERSON, Ind. – Defiance could not play the spoiler role on Saturday, as the host Anderson Ravens bolstered their position for a possible bid in the upcoming HCAC Tournament with 5-0 and 15-9 victories over the Jackets to finish the series sweep.

ANDERSON, Ind. – Defiance battled back from a 9-4 deficit to tie the game at 9-9 in the eighth inning of its series opener at Anderson on Friday, but could not finish off the rally and fell by a 12-9 margin.

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Defiance College knocked in seven runs on 11 hits but could not keep pace with Bluffton, as the Beavers scored in five different innings and came away with the 16-7 win in the HCAC clash on Wednesday afternoon.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Tuesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference ballgame between Defiance and Bluffton has been postponed due to rain. The game will now be played on Wednesday at Bluffton, beginning at 4:00 pm. Due to that change, Wednesday's non-conference game at Indiana Wesleyan has been cancelled and will not be made up.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance could not slow down a hard-hitting attack from Mount St. Joseph and several costly defensive mistakes further fueled the Lions, as they won 10-4 and 16-10 to sweep the three-game series at Rutter Field.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance put nine runs on the board in the first inning to build a 9-0 lead but managed just one run on four hits the rest of the way and suffered an 11-10 loss against Mount St. Joseph. Friday’s second game was postponed and will be made up on Saturday as part of a doubleheader at Rutter Field.

RICHMOND, Ind. – Defiance pounded out four home runs and scored nine of its 14 runs in the first two innings of Wednesday’s non-conference game at Earlham. Nick Picciano handled the rest, pitching seven strong innings in the 14-3 victory.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College baseball team has announced that its non-conference matchup at Rutter Field against the University of St. Francis has been moved to Saturday, April 4, with the opening pitch slated for 12:00 pm. The contest was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 5.

ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College baseball team saw a 4-1 lead slip away at Ohio Northern and suffered a 6-5 non-conference loss on Tuesday afternoon. The Jackets struggled at the plate with men on base, stranding 14 runners in the defeat.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket bats never got on track in Saturday’s doubleheader against Franklin and the visiting Grizzlies exited with 9-1 and 6-1 victories to complete the series sweep. Defiance managed just one run on four hits in each game and only five runs in the entire three-game set.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Franklin jumped on the board early with four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in the first game of a weekend set against the Yellow Jackets. DC could not answer until the fifth and ended up taking an 11-3 loss to the Grizzlies at Rutter Field.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Kirk Jesse homered and knocked out three hits on Wednesday afternoon but it was not enough, as Defiance fell, 13-4, to Trine in a midweek non-conference matchup. The home run was the first of the season for Jesse.

ADRIAN, Mich. – Kirk Jesse tripled home a pair of runs and later scored on an Aaron Stewart single to give Defiance a 3-1 lead over the No. 24 Adrian Bulldogs on Wednesday night, but the home team would rally for the 14-4 victory.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The 2009 home opener for the Defiance College baseball team provided plenty of fireworks, as the Jackets batted around in two separate innings and put 13 runs on the board. The offensive onslaught would not be enough however, as Albion pounded out 15 runs on 20 hits for the victory.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – DC rounded out its 2009 trip to the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla., on Friday with a pair of losses. The Yellow Jackets suffered a 10-6 setback against Becker in the morning game, before falling by a 12-3 score to Benedictine in their eighth and final game of the week.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Defiance allowed just four earned runs in a pair of contests against Wooster and Wilmington on Thursday afternoon but committed 11 errors on the day and lost 8-1 to Wooster and 11-6 to Wilmington.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Defiance picked up its third-straight win with a 6-1 victory over Skidmore in Tuesday’s opener. The Jackets could not make it four-straight wins however, suffering a, 3-2, extra-inning setback in the second game of the doubleheader.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Defiance began its eight-game stint in Port Charlotte, Fla., with victories against Becker and Ohio Wesleyan on Monday. The win over Becker was the 600th victory in the history of the DC baseball program, while the OWU win moved the Jackets to 2-2 on the season.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Defiance shook off a sluggish season-opener on Friday to play a thriller at Maryville on Saturday. The Jackets knotted the score in the top of the ninth, only to see the Scots get a one-out single to plate the winning run in the bottom half for the 5-4 victory.

DANVILLE, Ky. – The 2009 season got off to a very rocky start on Friday evening for the Defiance College baseball team. The Jackets racked up nine errors in their first time out and fell by a 23-5 score at Centre.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2009 Preseason Players to Watch for the upcoming baseball season on Tuesday. Defiance placed Tim Pitro, Kirk Jesse and Brad Timofeev on the 36-man list.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College baseball team will be hosting a variety of winter camps in the coming months, with the first beginning on January 11 and the last one being held on February 22. All camps will be held inside the Karl H. Weaner Community Center on the campus of Defiance College.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College baseball team recently teamed up with Johns Mansville, Le Farge and five Defiance Area Counties to help dispose of household hazardous waste items. The project was part of DC’s ongoing focus of service and engagement in the Defiance County area.
