GREENWOOD, Ind. – The HCAC unveiled its 2012 All-Conference Team for baseball, with Defiance placing four on the list. Darin Waterman led the way by being named Second-Team All-HCAC as a pitcher and first baseman, while Brad Kremer, Bryn Lehman and Alex Schomaeker received Honorable Mention status.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Aaron Helland helped the Defiance College baseball team pick up a sweep of Mount St. Joseph on the final weekend of the season and has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Hitter of the Week.

CINCINNATI – Defiance College wrapped up its 2012 baseball season on a positive note, handling Mount St. Joseph by a 5-4 margin to complete a series sweep of the Lions. DC won four of its last five games, including its last four in league play, and ended the season with a 7-6 record over the final 13 contests.

HANOVER, Ind. – Defiance outlasted Hanover in Sunday’s series finale, using a five-run outburst in the top of the 12th inning to secure a 12-7 victory in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.

HANOVER, Ind. – The Defiance College baseball team suffered two more defeats by two runs or fewer, pushing the number of times that has happened this season to 13 with 4-3 and 10-8 setbacks at Hanover on Saturday. The Panthers improved to 18-3 on their home field with the victories.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The weekend baseball series between Defiance and Hanover has been moved back one day due to weather concerns. The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference showdown will now begin with a 1:00 pm doubleheader on Saturday and conclude with a single game at noon on Sunday.

ADA, Ohio – Defiance waited out a 105 minute rain delay, before jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of Wednesday’s non-conference tilt at Ohio Northern. The hot start would not be enough for the win however, as the Polar Bears battled back for a 6-4 lead before the game was called in the sixth inning.

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – DC opened Tuesday’s game at Manchester with five-straight hits and eventually built a 7-0 lead, en route to holding off the Spartans in a dramatic, 10-9, victory. The win gave DC two in a row over potential HCAC Tournament squads and moved the Jackets to 3-2 in their last five league contests.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College evened its season record at 6-6 with a 7-2 victory over Lourdes College on Wednesday in the 2012 home opener for the Yellow Jackets. DC never trailed in the contest and used a two-run home run from Jonathan Murphy in the eighth to seal the victory.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Defiance College baseball team scored 16 runs in its final contest in Fort Myers, Florida to earn a 16-4 victory over Principia. The win gave the Jackets a split of Friday’s doubleheader and moved DC to 4-3 during its stay at the Gene Cusic Classic.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Defiance College scored in each of the final three innings on Thursday to nearly overcome an early 8-3 deficit against Lakeland. The comeback fell one run short however, as the Muskies held on for the 8-7 victory over DC.

DANVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Darin Waterman struck out 10 batters over six innings of work and added a pair of base knocks to help Defiance post a 6-1 victory against Calvin on Saturday at Centre College. The Jackets saw Calvin rebound in the second contest, taking a 14-2 victory to split the doubleheader.

The field house, known as The George, will serve as the recreational hub of the DC campus, while offering an indoor training facility for the Jackets’ 22 varsity athletic programs.
