Cornely Joins DC Football Coaching Staff
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College and head coach Rob Taylor have announced the hiring of Danny Cornely as a graduate assistant coach for the football program. Cornely will be primarily responsible for working with the defensive line during the 2010 campaign. “Danny brings a tremendous work ethic and a high level of passion to our staff,” said Taylor. “He is a young coach that is very eager to learn the Defiance College football way of leadership.” Cornely is no stranger to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, as he was a three-year starter and three-time All-HCAC selection on the gridiron for Hanover College. During his time with the Panthers, Cornely earned the Coaches’ Appreciation Award and was a two-year captain from his linebacker position. Cornely began his coaching career at Florida International University, where he assisted the defensive coordinator during summer camps. Cornely then served as an assistant strength coach during his final year at HC. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Defiance family,” stated Cornely. “I have played under great coaches at Hanover and now I am honored to start my coaching career at DC with Coach Taylor. I have a great deal of respect for the football program here and I am very excited to start the 2010 football season.” Cornely graduated with a degree in communications from Hanover and will work towards a master’s degree in education during his time at Defiance. ##### |
