DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College football team recently spent a day doing several service projects in and around the Defiance County area. The squad continued its tradition of using the day of community service to open its preseason camp.
This year’s projects included renovation and clean-up work at Kids’ Creation playground, Bronson and Riverside parks, Camp Lakota, Camp Libbey, Riverside Cemetery and the Hicksville County Fairgrounds. The football team also sorted and checked stored Christmas lights for the city of Defiance, while volunteering time at the city water tower grounds and the Defiance College campus.
The day of service was nothing new for Defiance College student-athletes, as during the 2009-2010 academic year, the DC athletics program contributed nearly 2,400 hours of service in the community, with the football team accounting for over 650 of those hours.
