2011-12 Athletic Honors
The Yellow Jackets have started picking up awards and recognition for the 2011-2012 athletic year. DC has already placed 51 student-athletes on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Athletes-to-Watch List and have had two student-athletes tabbed as Preseason All-Americans. Additionally, Defiance has earned 20 All-HCAC honors, one HCAC Freshman-of-the-Year award, nine HCAC Player-of-the-Week awards, two OAC Swimmer-of-the-Week awards, two national player-of-the-week honors, two All-American honors, one all-region award, three All-Ohio performers, eight all-tournament selections, four NFCA All-Academic Scholars, 20 HCAC All-Academic selections, eight HCAC All-Sportsmanship awards and six new school record holders. DC has also seen the women's track and field team honored with All-Academic status by the USTFCCCA, with the softball squad being named as a NFCA All-Academic Team.
Defiance has also seen four teams get a taste of postsesason play, as women's golf recorded its best finish at the HCAC Championships and was joined by men's cross country, women's cross country and volleyball in competing at an HCAC Championship event.
