The Yellow Jackets are picking up the awards and honors in 2008-2009. DC has placed 34 student-athletes on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Players-to-Watch List, has two preseason All-American honors, four all-region honors, four academic all-district performers, one ESPN The Magazine All-America selection, 35 Academic All-HCAC student-athletes, 21 all-tournament selections, 53 All-HCAC selections, two HCAC Freshman-of-the-Year honors, one HCAC Athlete of the Year, one HCAC Athlete of the Month, 25 HCAC Player-of-the-Week honors, one national player-of-the-week award, 24 All-Ohio honors and two tournament MVP's. Defiance has also seen 10 teams get a taste of postseason play, as Volleyball, Women's Golf, Women's Cross Country, Men's Cross Country, Men's Basketball, Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field, Men's Golf, Men's Tennis and Softball have all competed in and HCAC Championship event. Softball also competed in the NCAA Regional Tournament and advanced to the Final Four for the second-straight year.
