DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s basketball team will host the 34th-Annual Purple and Gold Financial Tournament on Dec. 29 and 30. DC will welcome Calvin College, Geneva College and Rockford College to round out the competitive four-team field.

The Yellow Jackets (6-3) will enter the tournament on a high note, riding the crest of a five-game win streak, in which DC has posted an average margin of victory of 19 points. DC features seven players who average over six points a night and ranks 49th in the nation with 80.1 points per night.

Rockford (4-5) will challenge Defiance on Monday in the 8:00 pm contest. That affair figures to be fast-paced tilt, with the Regents bringing a healthy scoring clip of 80.0 points a game to the Karl H. Weaner Community Center.

In Monday’s early contest, Calvin (3-5) will take on Geneva (2-5) in the 6:00 pm game. Calvin will be looking to get back on the winning track after suffering four-straight defeats, while Geneva will look to build on a thrilling, 98-94, overtime win over Bethany.

All four teams will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30, with the two losing squads from Monday squaring off in a 5:00 pm tip for third place. The winning teams from Monday’s games will then tip-off at 7:00 pm for the championship.

Single-day and all-tournament passes can be purchased at the gate. Single-day admission will be six dollars for adults and four dollars for senior citizens and students, while all-tournament passes will be on sale for nine dollars for adults and six dollars for senior citizens and students.
