DEFIANCE, Ohio – When Defiance welcomes Hanover on Saturday in a clash for second place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, a greater battle will also be in focus as DC hosts the Suits and Sneakers program in an effort to raise funds and awareness in the ongoing fight against cancer.
Head Coach Kyle Brumett and his staff will join coaches from across the country in wearing sneakers on the sidelines on Saturday. The act is a visible show of support for cancer awareness, treatment and early detection, as lacing up sneakers symbolizes the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.
All fans in attendance are also encouraged to join in the Coaches vs. Cancer program by wearing sneakers to the game. Fans can also purchase and sign a card for the Wall of Hope with a dollar donation. The cards will be added to the wall throughout the game and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that engages coaches, teams, communities and businesses nationwide to help save lives and make a real difference in the fight against this disease.
