Dan Simpson enters his second season as an assistant coach on the Defiance College cross country and track and field teams.

Simpson comes to Defiance from Augusta State University, where he coached the Lady Jaguar’s distance runners during the 2008 Outdoor Track and Field season. A 2007 graduate of Heidelberg College, he lettered 12 times during his collegiate career. Simpson was a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, leading the Student Princes to back-to-back NCAA Div. III Cross Country Championship appearances. Simpson graduated as the school's record holder in the 5,000-meter run,

Simpson earned degrees in psychology and english literature from Heidelberg College in 2007. He is currently enrolled in the master of arts and education program at Defiance College.
