DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets closed out their home season with an 11-0 loss to Mount St. Joseph.

MSJ (3-13, 2-7 MLC) struck first just two minutes into the game and didn’t look back.  Though DC (0-14, 0-9 MLC) did not score, they did keep the pressure on the MSJ defense all game long.

In the first quarter alone, the Yellow Jackets fired eight shots and six of those required the MSJ goalie to make a play on.

Throughout the game, DC was able to let go of 37 shots.  Of those 37 shots, the Yellow Jackets put nearly 50% of them toward goal as 17 required a play from the MSJ goalkeeping staff.

Matthew McGervey (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Seton-La Salle Catholic) kept the pressure on all day.  He let go of a team leading 14 shots on the afternoon.  Seven of those were on target, which also led the team.

Gareth MacMillan (Hartford, Mich / Hartford) took six shots for the Yellow Jackets.

Alex Francisco (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) and Dante Smith (Orlando, Fla. / Villa Rica) added three shots on goal each.

DC dominated MSJ in the groundball category, picking up 29 to Mount’s 19.  Smith and Tylor Grandidier (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) led the way in that category with four each.

The Yellow Jackets also did an excellent job of clearing the ball, converting on 24 of 26 attempts.

DC will close out its season on Saturday.  The travel to Concordia for a Midwest Lacrosse Conference matchup.  Game time is set to begin at 1 p.m. on April 26.
