ANGOLA, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s soccer team once again failed to record a goal in a 3-0 defeat to Trine University on Tuesday evening.

After two straight games of being shutout, the Jackets looked to break out of their offensive woes against the Thunder but could not find a goal.

Both teams came out trying to grab an early lead when the Thunder found the back of the net in the 18th minute. Trine’s Andrew Hilson played a cross into the box and David Duquette placed it into the far left side of the net to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later the Thunder struck for a second time when Hilson connected a cross with teammate Sean Sullivan who finished past the keeper to give the Thunder a 2-0 lead. The Jackets failed to get a goal for the remainder of the half and went to the break down by two goals.

DC was outshot in the first half eight to four and only registered one corner to Trine’s four.

The Yellow Jackets’ offensive despairs continued in the second half, as they just could not get any type of offensive flow or momentum established. The Thunder scored once again in the 52nd minute to firmly seal the victory.

The Yellow Jackets are next in action on Saturday, September 17 when they will take on Wilmington College at Wilmington at 7:30 p.m.
