ANDERSON, Ind. –The Defiance College men’s soccer lost its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Saturday when it travelled to Anderson University and lost by a score of 3-0.

The Ravens’ attack jumped on DC early as they scored two times within the first 12 minutes of the contest. Matt Young scored both of Anderson’s goals to give it a decisive advantage.

After the Raven’s opening scoring barrage, the game settled down and neither team scored for the remainder of the half. DC was outshot eight to five for the half.

The second half did not go any better for Defiance as it could only muster four shots in the second period, and none were able to find the back of the net. Anderson went on to add another goal when Kingsley Katande scored at the 47 minute mark.

The loss drops the Jackets’ record to 1-7-1 on the season and moves its HCAC record to 0-1.

The Yellow Jackets are next in action on Tuesday, September 27 when it hosts Marygrove at 4:00 p.m. The game will be played at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.
