DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket men’s soccer team fought Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Transylvania University to a scoreless tie on Saturday afternoon.

The weather conditions made it difficult for either team to develop an attack, as the wind was gusting up to 40-plus miles per hour during the contest.

DC focused much of its attention to the defensive side of the game, as it was resolved to keep the threatening Pioneer attack at bay. The Jackets executed this game plan very well forcing most of Transy’s shots from distance.

Even with playing a defensive minded game, the Yellow Jackets were only outshot by a total of 6-5 in the second half and managed to outshoot the Pioneers 2-1 in the overtime sessions.

The draw is the first decision that has not been a win for Transylvania University in conference play this season.

The result brings Defiance’s HCAC record to 2-2-1 which currently positions the Purple and Gold in fourth place alone.

The Jackets’ next game is on Tuesday, October 18 at Earlham College. The game is expected to kick off at 4:00 p.m.
