TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets entered the final game of the season with a chance to qualify for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason. The Saturday afternoon match was at Rose-Hulman, who is second place in the HCAC standings.

Despite a strong effort from Defiance, the Jackets were unable to come away with a victory and lost by a score of 1-0.

DC got off to a shaky start when the Fightin’ Engineers scored the game’s only goal in the game’s sixth minute. Rose-Hulman’s Clint Vatterrodt scored from around ten yards out. Assisting on the play was Max Brown.

After scoring the goal, the Engineers’ defense stifled the Jackets’ attack. Defiance was only able to record three shots in the first half to Rose’s six.

The second half was much of the same. DC was unable to develop any type of rhythm or possession and finished the game with six total shots.

With the loss the Yellow Jackets’ season comes to a close. Their HCAC record finishes at 3-4-2 while its overall record ends at 5-10-3.
