Defiance Men’s Soccer Defeated in Battle of Yellow Jackets

ADA, Ohio – Searching for its first win of the season, the DC men’s soccer squad came up short Saturday September 8thas the Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets grabbed the victory 2-0 on the second day of the ONU Invitational.
The game began under adverse situations, as the start of the match was pushed back from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and moved to Ohio Northern’s practice soccer fields due to overnight rainfall Friday evening.
Once the action finally kicked off, it didn’t take long for BW to get on the scoreboard as Kirk Graf knocked in a goal in the fourth minute and grab a 1-0 advantage.
Throughout the rest of the half, both teams were held scoreless as the defenses tightened up. Unfortunately for Defiance, they could not find a rhythm on offense as they only had two shots on goal in the half and the troubles continued over the rest of the game.
Baldwin-Wallace came out of the half with a quick goal five minutes in when they headed in a score to make it 2-0. From then on, BW controlled the game and closed it out for the neutral site win.
Defiance drops to 0-4 on the season while Baldwin-Wallace bumps up its record to 3-1.
The Yellow Jackets host Trine in its next match on Tuesday, September 11 at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
