COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a tough non-conference battle, the Defiance men’s soccer team fell to the Capital Crusaders 2-0 on Friday, September 14.With the loss, the Jackets drop to 0-6-0 on the season, while Capital improves to 4-2-1.

The Crusaders opened up the game on the offensive, as they racked off the first three shots of the match. DC responded with two of its own to try and bring balance back to the game. Unfortunately, the Capital attack kept the pressure on and in the 26th minute, it knocked in a goal off a rebound to gain a 1-0 advantage.

The Yellow Jacket defense held steady throughout the rest of the half to head into intermission with only a one score deficit.

However, the DC offense was just too stagnant on the afternoon, as they couldn’t produce any pressure on the opponent. The opposite was true for the Crusaders, as their attack came out on all cylinders to start the second half. They racked up nine shots, including a goal, before the Jackets notched one of their own. The lead was then 2-0 for Capital.

Defiance tried to get a rally started by notching the next four shots in the match, but the Crusader defense held strong as the home team came away with the 2-0 win.

DC will be right back in action tomorrow, September 15 when they travel to Muskingum for another non-conference matchup with an OAC opponent. The match is slated for 3 p.m.
