DC’s Inaugural Swimming Season Comes to a Close

AKRON, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets’ men’s swimming team finished its first ever season on Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships. The squad placed sixth at the championships totaling 51 points over the three days of the meet.

Freshman Dylan Textor qualified for the finals for the third time in as many days for the Yellow Jackets, this time in the 200-yard butterfly. Textor finished eighth in the finals with a time of 2:05.99. The finish earned the Purple and Gold 11 points.

Freshman Ben Werbiskis also had a top ten finish on the day, as he placed 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke. The freshman turned in a time of 2:18.17 and netted seven points for DC.

William Johns ended his freshman campaign with a time of 20:20.57 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. The time placed Johns in 14th place.

Saturday’s meet was the final day of the OAC Championships and Defiance’s last meet of its first season in school history.
