LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Yellow Jacket men’s tennis team traveled to Lexington, Ky. for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tennis match against Transylvania University on Saturday. The Pioneers outmatched Defiance in a 9-0 win.

DC did not get out to a great start in the doubles portion of the day. Transylvania managed to sweep the Purple and Gold in the three matches with the closest match coming from the three doubles team of Michael Vanderkolk and Justin Walker in an 8-6 loss.

The Yellow Jackets did not fare any better in singles action, as the Pioneers claimed victories at all six spots. The only member of Defiance who won a set on the day was Ryan Nelson at the two position. The sophomore dropped the first set 4-6 before rallying to win the second 6-4. Nelson then fell in a super-tiebreaker by a score of 10-5.

With the loss the Jackets spring record moves to 5-10 on the season with its HCAC record falling to 1-4. The Purple and Gold are set to travel to Manchester University on Monday, April 22 to take on the Spartans. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
