INDIANAPOLIS – The Defiance College men’s tennis team traveled to Indianapolis to face the Franklin Grizzlies in the opening round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in the six versus three matchup. The Jackets were outmatched by the higher-seeded Franklin squad, as DC lost by a final of 5-0.

The match began with three doubles matches and Defiance soon found itself in an early hole. The Purple and Gold dropped all three matches to go down 3-0. The number one and two teams lost by finals of 8-4, while the Jackets three team fell by a score of 8-3.

Defiance did not fare any better in singles action. The Grizzlies quickly won at the one and five singles spots to wrap up a 5-0 win and move onto the semifinals.

The Yellow Jackets finish the season with a mark of 8-12 and recorded a 4-5 record in the Heartland. The eight wins are the most since the 2010 season, the last year the squad qualified for the HCAC Tournament.
