Weber Sets School Record in First Meet of the Year

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team got its indoor season underway on Saturday at the Trine Winter Invitational in Angola, Ind. Teams at the meet included Trine, Tiffin, Adrian and Defiance. The Jackets placed fourth overall.

The highlight of the day for the Yellow Jackets was Jordan Weber’s performance in the 60-meter hurdles event. Weber was victorious in the event with a time of 8.95 seconds. The time set a Defiance College record. Finishing second in the event to Weber was DC’s Clayvon Finch.

Other impressive performances included Josh Beaverson’s display in shot put. Beaverson set a personal record with a throw of 13.75 meters. The throwers for Defiance overall had a good day as a team.

Another first place finish for the Purple and Gold was Dan Hardin-Wallace in the pole vault. Hardin-Wallace tied for the victory with a height of 4.25 meters. The junior also placed fourth in the finals of the 60-yard dash.

Defiance’s track and field team’s next event is after the Christmas break when they travel to the Northwest Ohio Invite on Friday, January 20.
