GREENWOOD, Ind. – Yellow Jacket junior thrower Tom Postema’s honors and accolades keep increasing with every passing week. The Defiance, Ohio native was once again named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week. The award has been handed out twice so far this season, and each time Postema has been the recipient.

On Friday evening, Postema placed first overall for all collegiate athletes at the Findlay Indoor Track and Field Classic in the weight throw event with a mark of 60’ 1”. Postema is ranked first in the HCAC and eighth in all of NCAA Division III for the weight throw event. The overall top 13 automatically qualify for the NCAA Indoor Division III National Championships at the end of the season.

The junior followed up his Friday performance with an equally impressive showing on Saturday afternoon at the Lid-Lifter Denison Invitational in the shot put event. Postema broke his own school record in the event with a distance of 52’ 8.25”. This mark moved Postema up to number 10 overall in the current NCAA Division III rankings for the event and improved his already-leading HCAC distance.

Postema and the Yellow Jackets’ track and field team will be back in action on Saturday, February 4 at the Ohio Northern Invitational. The meet is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
