Postema Claims Third-Straight HCAC Athlete of the Week Award

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference released its Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, and for the third consecutive week junior Tom Postema found his name on the list. The Defiance, Ohio native put on an impressive performance in the shot put event at the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University on Saturday. Postema delivered a record-setting distance of 54-5.50 on his last throw of the competition. The mark breaks Postema’s previously held record by nearly two feet. The throw also moved Postema up to fifth in the nation for all NCAA DIII athletes in the shot put event. The junior was also victorious in the weight throw event at the invite. Postema recorded a throw of 54-08.25 and is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the weight throw. Postema and the Yellow Jackets next travel to Westerville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, February 11. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon. |
