GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior thrower Tom Postema keeps breaking records and making history. Postema was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth consecutive week, a feat that has never occurred in the HCAC for track and field.

The Defiance native earned All-Ohio status on Saturday at the All-Ohio Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships by placing first in the weight throw and second in shot put. Postema won the weight throw with a distance of 59-02.25, nearly four feet further than the nearest competitor. The junior currently is the leader in the weight throw in the HCAC heading into the conference championships and the ninth best mark in the country.

In the shot put, Postema placed second with a distance of 53-02.75. The throw was his second best of the season. Postema is in fifth place in the nation for the shot put event and is currently number one in the HCAC.

Postema and the Defiance College track team travel to Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute, Ind. for the HCAC Championships. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
