GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its spring honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team on Tuesday, with Defiance placing 11 student-athletes on the list to bring its 2010-2011 total up to 38.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference released its list of All-HCAC track and field performers on Thursday, with three DC athletes receiving recognition. Austin Trivett and Kim Bingley took First Team All-HCAC, while Kaitlin Switzer earned Honorable Mention.

HANOVER, Ind. – The men’s track and field team finished fourth at the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Rose-Hulman won the championship meet with 226.50 points, while Franklin (123), Manchester (88.5), Defiance (80) and Anderson (74) rounded out the top five.

HANOVER, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets are locked in a three-way tie for third place after the first day of action at the 2011 HCAC Outdoor Championships. Rose-Hulman leads the way with 73 points, while Earlham (30), Defiance (29), Anderson (29) and Franklin (29) comprise the two through five spots.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College track and field teams will head to Hanover College on Friday to compete in the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. The two-day event is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and conclude on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Jackets traveled to Anderson University on Thursday to get a final tune-up before the HCAC Outdoor Championships next weekend. Junior thrower, Josh Beaverson, highlighted the AU Pre-Conference Invitational for Defiance with a pair of season-best performances.

DELAWARE, Ohio – The men’s track and field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday to compete in the Div. III All-Ohio Championships. DC’s Ryan Perry, Justin Perkins, Austin Trivett and Dan Hardin-Wallace each posted All-Ohio performances at the meet.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The men’s track and field team shook up its record books at the Adrian College All-American Invitational on Saturday. Three different Yellow Jacket runners turned in All-Ohio qualifying performances in the 1,500-meter run at the meet.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College track and field team is set to host the 2011 Yellow Jacket Open tomorrow, April 1, at Justin F. Coressel Stadium. The event will mark DC’s final home meet of the year, and feature 10 seniors competing in their last meet at Coressel Stadium.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its winter honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team on Wednesday, with Defiance placing seven student-athletes on the list. The seven award winners give DC five more than its 2009 winter total.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Marlea Rolander and Austin Trivett led their respective teams to a pair of victories at the Dick Small Invitational on Saturday, and were honored by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Monday, when the league office announced its athletes of the week.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Justin Perkins broke his own school record in the 5,000-meter run, and the men’s track and field team defended its title at the Dick Small Invitational on Saturday. The Jackets earned 191.50 points to take top honors in their first meet of the 2011 outdoor season.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team received a second-place ranking with 89 points in the 2011 HCAC Preseason Coaches Poll,  released by the conference office on Wednesday. Defiance also had five athletes placed on the Preseason Athletes-to-Watch list.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Austin Trivett will go down as the best field athlete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s inaugural indoor track and field season. He was tagged as the Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year after leading DC to a second-place finish at the HCAC Indoor Championships.

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets placed second at the inaugural Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, held at Anderson University on Saturday. Defiance garnered 100 points on the day, and saw Austin Trivett honored as the Most Outstanding Field Athlete.

GAMBIER, Ohio – The men’s track and field team placed 13th with 15.50 points in the Indoor All-Ohio Championships at Kenyon College on Saturday. Defiance saw seven of its athletes receive Indoor All-Ohio honors, and broke a school record in the distance medley relay for the second-straight year.

ANGOLA, Ind. – A handful of Defiance College track and field athletes made their second trip of the season to Angola, Ind. on Saturday to compete in the Trine Invitational. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished fifth at the meet, garnering 16.5 and 31 points respectively.

ADA, Ohio – The men’s track and field team finished second with 151 points at the Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday. DC’s Justin Perkins recorded the fastest 1,000-meter dash time in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season with a personal-best time of 2:44.51.

ANGOLA, Ind. – The men’s track and field team finished second at the Trine Invitational on Friday, collecting 159.75 points at the event and falling just 2.50 points shy of the hosting school. Seth Bidlack broke DC’s school record in the 500-meter dash, crossing the line in 69.16 seconds.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College has completed the installation of a web cam that will allow progress of construction at the site of the DC Athletic Center to be recorded on a regular basis. A new photo will be posted each hour to show updated images around the clock.

FINDLAY, Ohio – DC’s 2011 indoor track and field season got under way on Friday, when the Jackets took part in the Northwest Ohio Invitational in Findlay, Ohio. HCAC Preseason Runner-to-Watch, Justin Perkins, got off to a good start by breaking DC’s school record in the 3,000-meter run.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College track and field program supplemented its coaching staff with the recent hiring of Cary Ossiff, a 2010 Wayne State University graduate. Ossiff brings an extensive background in strength and conditioning program development to the Yellow Jackets’ staff.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – DC’s track and field team was originally scheduled to begin its indoor season today, but the Trine Holiday Meet has been cancelled, meaning the team will now wait until January to begin the season. Next on the schedule is the Northwest Ohio Invitational on January 21, 2011, in Findlay, Ohio.
