NEW ORLEANS – For the second year in a row and fourth time in five years, the Defiance College women’s cross country team was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as an All-Academic Cross Country team.

Defiance was one of 187 NCAA Division III cross country team to earn the award from the USTFCCCA. To qualify for the distinction, a team must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.10 through the fall semester.

The Yellow Jackets were paced this season by senior Ellen Stryffeler. Stryffeler led the Jackets at every event this season, and ended the year by setting a new DC record at NCAA Regionals. She was honored with All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference accolades after finishing third at the HCAC Championships and was a two-time conference runner-of-the-week.

DC was joined by conference rivals, Anderson, Bluffton, Earlham, Franklin, Hanover and Manchester on the USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic list.
