Boleyn Claims Second All-OAC Performance at Championships
AKRON, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets’ standout performer, Emilee Boleyn, grabbed All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors for the second consecutive night at the OAC Championships on Friday evening. The first year DC swimming team had another great performance in the pool in day two of the three-day event.
Each swimmer that competed in the morning preliminary rounds and the finals set a new personal best for the event. This marks the second straight day this feat has occurred for the Purple and Gold.
Leading the way for Defiance at the championships has been Boleyn. The freshman finished in second place for the second evening in a row, this time in the 100-yard backstroke. The Fort Wayne native saved her best performance of the year in the event for the biggest race of the season. Boleyn broke the 1-minute barrier in the event for the first time of her DC career with a time of 59.84. The second place finish earned the Jackets 17 points.
Other individual point earners on the day for DC were freshman Jacqueline Loock and freshman Miranda Behner. Loock won the B-Final with a mark of 4:59.24, shaving over seven seconds off her previous best time of the year. Overall Loock finished in ninth place and scored nine points for the Jackets. Behner finished in 15th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:13.30. The performance earned Defiance two points.
The other two major point scoring events were the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. Both relay teams finished in sixth place and earned 26 points apiece. The 800-yard freestyle relay team finished with a time of 8:57.07 and the 200-yard medley finished in 2:05.64.
Defiance will wrap up its inaugural season on Saturday during the final day of the OAC Championships. The competitions are slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
