DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s basketball team in association with The Hubbard Company and Defiance Clinic will be holding its Pink Zone game on Saturday, February 14, in order to help raise cancer awareness. All proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Cancer Fund in its partnership with the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The team will be accepting donations at both entrances of the Karl H. Weaner Center, while also selling pink ribbons. DC head coach, Dic Doumanian, will add to the proceeds that are raised for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, contributing $10 for every three-pointer Defiance makes in the contest.

The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund was launched in December 2007 in honor of the late Kay Yow, the long-time North Carolina State University head coach and founding member of the WBCA. The fund raises money to assist the underserved in their fight against women’s cancers, as well as for scientific cancer research.

The women’s game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. with the men’s contest set to follow 30 minutes after its conclusion. Every fan attending the game will be encouraged to wear pink in order to help support the cause. There will literature available for those who are interesting in learning more about the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
