Mallory Faling is a two-time All-HCAC performer for the Yellow Jackets and led all conference players in doubles during her final collegiate regular season.

20 Questions With Mallory Faling
1-When did you start playing softball? I started playing softball when I was about six years old.
2-What has been the highlight of your athletic career so far? The highlight of my career was definitely when we went to NCAA Regionals my freshman and sophomore years. It was so fun and exciting and something that I will never forget.
3-What are your goals for the remainder of the 2011 season? My goals are to win the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament so that we can go to Regionals for the third time in my career at Defiance.
4-Who is your funniest teammate? Marah Robinson. No matter what she is doing, she can always make you laugh or smile. Just listening to her talk sometimes makes me laugh.
5-Do you have any nicknames? Usually people just call me Mal or Mallory.
6-What three words best describe you? Funny, sarcastic, charismatic.
7-What is your favorite restaurant? Taco Bell for sure.
8-Who is your biggest hero? My mom. She has been there for me through thick and thin.
9-Dream vacation spot? I would love to go to Ireland. From what I have seen in pictures, the scenery looks beautiful.
10-What is the top song currently on your iPod? "Born this Way", by Lady Gaga.
11-Who was your childhood sports hero? Sue Bird. When she played for the UConn women's basketball team.
12-Do you have any superstitions or pre-game routines? I have handshakes with a few girls on the team and we always have to do them before the game. I also have my cleats that are old and torn apart but I can't wear any other ones during the games. There are so many more but not enough space to say them all.
13-If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be? Beacon my dog. I want to know what it is like to be an animal.
14-What is your favorite TV show? "SpongeBob Squarepants".
15-What is something most people do not know about you? My brother is in the United States Army and has served two tours in Iraq.
16-What is your biggest fear? To be alone in the dark.
17-Besides your own, what is your favorite sport to watch at Defiance? Men's basketball.
18-What is your favorite class or professor at DC and why? My favorite professor is Dr. Keith Christy. I have had him for many classes and he always teaches information that is interesting and useful to me. He shows that he really cares about his students and helps you whenever you need it.
19-What are your plans after graduating from DC? I hope to get a graduate assistant position as a softball coach, while getting my master's degree. During this summer, I have a job as a camp counselor in Pennsylvania working with the softball program.
20-How has playing collegiate athletics at DC helped you in life? Playing softball has taught me many attributes that I can take into the future. I have learned dependability and reliability. My teammates always depend on me to get my job done. This is a great quality that I can take into a future job.
