Brooke Zachrich is a two-time Academic All-HCAC standout and the lone senior on the women's basketball team.

20 Questions With Brooke Zachrich

1-When did you start playing basketball? Around third or fourth grade at the YMCA.
 
2-What has been the highlight of your athletic career so far? In high school my team beat Findlay when they were ranked in the state with Carly Roethlisberger on their team.
 
3-What are your goals for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season? To improve and compete for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
 
4-Who is your funniest teammate? The first three years it was definitely Courtney Schmersal. She is something else! This year, it would be my sister Megan Zachrich. She says a lot of funny things.
 
5-Do you have any nicknames? None that I can think of for this year.
 
6-What three words best describe you? Loyal, hardworking, laid back.
 
7-What is your favorite restaurant? I love food. Way too many to pick from. Probably have to say Olive Garden if it came down to it though.
 
8-Who is your biggest hero? Either my grandmother or my mother. They are two amazing women, who have been great role models for me.
 
9-Dream vacation spot? I have been to a lot of places and Hawaii is definitely my favorite and the place I would love to go back to.
 
10-What is the top song currently on your iPod? I do not update my iPod much, or listen to music really unless I am in the car or a bus ride. My favorite songs are "I Will Be" and "Until the End of Time."
 
11-Who was your childhood sports hero? I went to a lot of DC camps as a kid and all the college players were cool to me and I wanted to be like them and play sports in college.
 
12-Do you have any superstitions or pre-game routines? I used to but realized they do not really work. I just try to mentally prepare myself before games.
 
13-If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be? Probably no one.
 
14-What is your favorite TV show? Right now it is "The Walking Dead" but all time are "Survivor" and "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette."
 
15-What is something most people do not know about you? Most people do not know a lot about me.
 
16-What is your biggest fear? Not of the dark but what is in it and being alone.
 
17-Besides your own, what is your favorite sport to watch at Defiance? The men's basketball team, or my roomie playing volleyball.
 
18-What is your favorite class or professor at DC and why? My favorite class was Abnormal Psychology and my favorite professor is Dr. Kristin Sorensen because she has a lot of interesting experiences.
 
19-What are your plans after graduating from DC? Going into the workforce and eventually going to graduate school.
 
20-How has playing collegiate athletics at DC helped you in life? It has taught me time management and how to work with different kinds of people and the skills I will need in a work environment.
