Alisha Kazlausky is one of two seniors on the women's cross country team and has competed on the squad the past two seasons.
 
Now is your chance to get to know Alisha Kazlausky away from the course, as we go beyond the box score with the senior harrier.

20 Questions With Alisha Kazlausky

1-When did you start running cross country? I started running cross country in seventh grade and ran through my senior year of high school. I joined the Defiance team during my junior year.
 
2-What has been the highlight of your athletic career so far?  Being a part of the DC cross country and track and field teams. I have also enjoyed trying out new events like the 1,500-meter race and the 6,000-meter race.
 
3-What are your goals for the 2012 season? My goal is to finish a 5K race in less than 23 minutes and to finish the 6K race at conference in less than 28 minutes.
 
4-Who is your funniest teammate? Troy Parret. You never know what he's going to do or say.
 
5-Do you have any nicknames? Ariel from the Little Mermaid.
 
6-What three words best describe you? Personable, funny, caring.
 
7-What is your favorite restaurant? Buca di Beppo in Columbus, Ohio.
 
8-Who is your biggest hero? My parents. They have done so much for me and have always been there for everything.
 
9-Dream vacation spot? I would love to travel throughout Europe, especially Ireland.
 
10-What is the top song currently on your iPod? "Call Me Maybe," by Carly Rae Jepsen.
 
11-Who was your childhood sports hero? I really liked Kurt Warner because I am a St. Louis Rams fan and I remember watching them win the Super Bowl.
 
12-Do you have any superstitions or pre-race routines? As a team we all stand in a circle, spit into the middle of the circle and say a cheer to get the team's energy up. Then we pray and say last minute encouraging words to each other.
 
13-If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be? Any of the Kardashian girls. They are always being criticized but I really like them and would just be curious how it is to live like that.
 
14-What is your favorite TV show? "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." It is ridiculous but so entertaining.
 
15-What is something most people do not know about you? I have played the cello in the orchestra since I was in the fifth grade.
 
16-What is your biggest fear? Needles and having my blood drawn, or watching it happen to someone else.
 
17-Besides your own, what is your favorite sport to watch at Defiance? Men's basketball.
 
18-What is your favorite class or professor at DC and why?  Dr. Nathan Griggs. I have had him for many of my science classes and he is my senior research advisor. He is a wonderful, entertaining professor and makes the class more enjoyable.
 
19-What are your plans after graduating from DC? Possibly studying psychology, or going straight into the job field working as a forensic scientist on a crime scene.
 
20-How has playing collegiate athletics at DC helped you in life?  Playing a college sport has helped me meet new people, expand my horizons and come out of my shell. I have met many great friends by joining the cross country team on a whim and I would not change anything. It has helped me become a better leader since I joined as an upper-classmen. I have really enjoyed every moment while being a part of the cross country and track and field teams.
