DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College softball team continued its service to the community over the Halloween weekend by participating in the annual Defiance Halloween Parade. The team partnered up with the Fort Defiance Humane Society in efforts to promote and increase the adoption of animals in northwest Ohio.

Each member of the Yellow Jacket softball team walked a dog from the shelter that needed a home in the parade in hopes that she would help the chances of the dog being adopted.

Junior outfielder Gloria Basinger was happy to be a part of the service opportunity.

“The Halloween parade was a great way to get out and possibly help the animals at the shelter find the loving homes that they deserve,” stated Basinger. “Everyone had so much fun playing with and walking their dogs. Not to mention, any time our team is together we always have a good time.”

The softball team will lend a helping hand in the community this month as well when they head up to Toledo to volunteer with the annual Make-A-Wish Holiday Party.
