DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College softball team is going to be hosting one winter camp and two clinics from February 12 through February 26. The camp and clinics will all be held in the new George M. Smart Athletic Center.

The camp that the DC softball program is hosting is a prospect camp that will take place on Sunday, February 26 from noon to 3:30 p.m. This camp is open for players who are looking to play softball at the collegiate level and are graduating in 2012, 2013 or 2014. The camp will be run similar to a DC practice and players will be evaluated in every aspect of the game. Following the camp there will be a question and answer recruiting seminar open to players and parents. If you register by February 1 the price is $45 and the walk up registration fee is $50.

The defensive clinic is scheduled for Saturday, February 11. The clinic will begin at noon and end at 2:30 p.m. This clinic is open for softball players between grades kindergarten through high school seniors. The clinic will feature separate skill sessions focusing on individual aspects of the game. The sessions will be divided by grade level for more specific age-related activities. The cost for the defensive clinic is $30.

On Sunday, February 12 the Defiance softball team will put on its pitching and hitting clinics. The pitching clinic for grades kindergarten through sixth will run from noon to 2:00 p.m. and for grades seventh through twelfth will run from 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. The hitting clinic for grades kindergarten through sixth will go from 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. and for grades seventh through twelfth will go from noon through 2:00 p.m. Each clinic will focus on the mechanics of hitting or pitching and the proper techniques for each. The cost is $30 for one session or $45 for both sessions.
