Warren Awarded Women's Enrichment Scholarship
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Defiance College senior softball player Megan Warren (Mason) has been awarded the NCAA Women's Enrichment Scholarship from the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics.
As a recipient of the scholarship, Warren will receive a $7,500 nonrenewable scholarship to be used during the 2017-18 academic year. She must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student in a sports-related program during the year, but the scholarship is eligible for the college of her choice.
To be eligible for the award, the athlete must be in their final year of eligibility and have an overall undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.20. Recipients must also be seeking admission or have already been accepted into a sports administration or other graduate program that will assist the applicant in obtaining a career in intercollegiate athletics. Applicants were also expected to have performed "with distinction as a student body member at their respective undergraduate institution" and to be "outstanding citizens and excellent role models for the institution and intercollegiate athletics as a whole."
As a scholarship recipient, Warren will also be invited to attend the 2017 NCAA Career in Sports Forum (CSF) taking place in Indianapolis, Ind. at the beginning of June. The CSF is a four-day educational event, designed to bring over 200 student-athletes to learn about careers in the sports industry. The NCAA provides the scholarship that provides the cost of travel, lodging, and meals for the event.
