TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Defiance College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Engineers (9-4-1, 4-1 HCAC) took the first five shots of the contest and outshot the Yellow Jackets, 7-2, in the half. Junior keeper Clay Musgrave finished the half with four saves for DC (6-6-2, 2-3 HCAC), keeping Rose-Hulman off the scoreboard and making the game a 0-0 draw at halftime.
Rose-Hulman struck for the lone goal of the contest in the 59th minute, as Ross Klauer scored his second of the season to take a 1-0 advantage, a lead that the Engineers held onto for a 1-0 win.
The Engineers wrapped up the match with a 12-3 shots advantage and a 7-0 edge in shots on frame. Musgrave finished the contest with six saves for DC, while freshman Jarren Casto (Celina) took two of Defiance's three shots.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 18 as they travel to North Manchester, Ind. for a matchup with the Manchester University Spartans. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
