ADA, OHIO - The Yellow Jackets traveled south to take on Ohio Northern falling to a tough Polar Bear team this evening, 90-45 at the ONU Sports Center.
Defiance was led in the contest by senior Sam Ervin (Bloomdale/Elmwood) with a game-high 14 points.
In the opening period, senior Lauren Rogers (Munger, Mich./Bay City Central) hit a three to give DC the early 3-2 advantage with 8:48 to play before the Polar Bears took over going on an 8-0 run and never looked back going on to out score the Yellow Jackets, 21-11.
The run continued late into the second half before freshman Taylor Day (West Mansfield/North Union) connected for layup with 3:42 reaming before the intermission to cut the deficit to 34-13. The DC defense stepped up holding ONU to just two more points before the break, entering the half trailing 36-16.
Northern dominated much of the second half out scoring the Yellow Jackets 54-29 to capture the early season win.
Defiance returns to action on Tuesday, October 27 as they play host to Ohio Wesleyan at the Karl H. Weaner Center. The game is set for 7:00 p.m.
