DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's soccer team ended their home HCAC contest in a double-overtime 1-1 tie with Manchester University this afternoon in Defiance, Ohio.
Both teams were able to get off nine shots in the opening half, neither team was able to connect, however. In the 40th minute, the Yellow Jackets broke the scoring silence as Kat Wicher notched her first goal of the season to give DC the 1-0 advantage going into the half.
In the 70th minute, the Spartans equalized as Courtney Herwick chipped in an unassisted goal. Kassie Memmer was able to fire off three shots for DC, just missing the mark, sending the game into extra time.
Spartan keeper Cami Holford held off the Yellow Jackets as she made five key saves in the first overtime to keep the score 1-1. In the second overtime it was a similar story but for DC's goalie Rachel Lowell who made two saves of her own, concluding the contest in a 1-1 tie.
The Yellow Jackets return to the pitch on Saturday, October 21 for a 1:00 PM contest against Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana.
