Women's Soccer Finishes Busy Weekend with Loss to Westminster.

DEFIANCE, OH - The Defiance College women's soccer team wrapped up the 2018 Purple and Gold Classic with a 4-1 loss to Westminster on Sunday afternoon. 

The Titans were able to put four goals in on junior goalkeeper Madi Bowman (Eaton / Eaton), despite her 10 saves in the match. Offensively, the Yellow Jackets created a handful of chances throughout the match. Four shots ultimately led the Yellow Jackets to scoring their first goal on the season. In the 90th minute, Defiance got on the board with a penalty from junior Whitney Webb (Troy, Troy). Webb was able to hit a ball with pace to the keepers left and tally her first goal of the season. Webb finished with two shots on the day. Also contributing in the shots category were junior Malia Ferry (Milford / Milford) and junior Kat Wicher (Toledo / Whitmer), each adding one to the Yellow Jacket total. 

Sunday's match wraps up the 2018 Purple and Gold Classic. Defiance finishes 0-2, Willmington finishes 1-1, and Westminster finishes 2-0 on the weekend. 

The Yellow Jackets team is next in action on Wednesday, Sept. 5th as they host Saint Mary's College (Ind.) at 4:30 pm.
