HANOVER, IND. - The Defiance College volleyball team fell at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Hanover on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-12).
Defiance (8-10 overall, 3-2 HCAC) was led in the contest by freshman Morgan Porter (Defiance) with five kills and four blocks. Sophomore Jenni Davis (Delta) and junior Brooke Plummer (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) registered four kills each.
The Yellow Jackets trailed early in set one as the Panthers used a five point rally to capture the 5-0 lead. Hanover continued on the attack using a kill and a service ace to capture the 25-16 set one victory.
Defiance continued to struggle early in set two as the Panthers rattled off nine straight points before a Hanover miscue put DC on the board. The Panthers went on to win the set 25-8.
In set three, Defiance used a three point surge led by back-to-back kills from sophomore Emma Seitz (Toledo/Central Catholic) and Porter to cut the lead 13-7. However, the Panthers continued to be to much for the Yellow Jackets scoring four straight points to capture the win.
Defiance returns to action Wednesday, October 18 as they host Manchester for the Purple with a Purpose game. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
