ADRIAN,  Mich. - The Defiance College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday afternoon to Siena Heights, 3-2 (15-25, 25-21, 25-20, 16-25, 11-15), and Illinois Tech, 3-0 (14-25, 17-25, 18-25).

In game one, sophomore Alexis Pierce led the Jackets on offense and defense. Pierce finished the game with 10 kills and 10 blocks, both team-high efforts. Senior Meghan Hinds added 10 spikes for the match. Freshman Alicia Kalik dished out 39 assists and had nine digs on the defensive end. Freshman Jill Turner also had nine digs for the Yellow Jackets.

In the second match, sophomore Gretel Briand led the attack with four kills. Kalik had a team-high 19 assists. On defense, sophomore Christa Seidenstricker had six digs, while Pierce and senior Marlea Rolander each had five blocks.

The Jackets return to the court on Saturday, October 1 at home to take on Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin College. Match time is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
