DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College volleyball team dropped its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season to Mount Saint Joseph, 3-1 (15-25, 25-18, 15-25, 17-25), on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Jessica Tietje and freshman Stephanie Wilson, who both ended the match with seven kills. Wilson also added a team-best 14 digs. Sophomore Alexis Pierce paced the Yellow Jacket defense with six total blocks, while senior Marlea Rolander and sophomore Chelsea Ludeman each had five blocks. Freshman Alicia Kalik dished out 23 assists to lead the Defiance attack.

Mount Saint Joseph was led by Kat Roedig’s 14 kills.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 12-10 overall and 3-1 in the HCAC.

Defiance will return to action on Friday, October 14th when it travels to conference rival Hanover. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
