GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its fall honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team, with Defiance placing 29 student-athletes on the list. The 29 award winners is nine more than the 2011 season and the most DC has ever placed on the list.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The HCAC handed out its end-of-season honors on Wednesday and the Defiance College volleyball program earned a number of accolades. Head coach Brie Brenner was named the HCAC Coach of the Year, while Alexis Pierce, Alicia Kalik, and Chelsea Ludeman received All-HCAC honors.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Alexis Pierce added another honor to her long list of accolades for the 2012 Yellow Jacket volleyball season, as the junior was placed on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team. This award marks the third all-tournament team Pierce has been named to this season.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket volleyball team hosted its first home HCAC Tournament match on Tuesday evening, as Defiance played Hanover in the quarterfinals. The Purple and Gold produced a determined and driven effort to pull out a four-set victory by scores of 25-23, 14-25, 25-22 and 29-27.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The DC volleyball team entered Sunday tied for third place in the HCAC standings with Rose-Hulman. The two squads faced off on Sunday afternoon in a pivotal match. Unfortunately, the Jackets were defeated by the Fightin’ Engineers in four sets by scores of 17-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-12.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket volleyball team finished up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Saturday afternoon with matches against Case Western Reserve and Muskingum. Defiance earned a split on the day, as the Jackets lost in five sets to Case and defeated Muskingum in straight-sets.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The DC volleyball team qualified for the HCAC postseason tournament for the second consecutive season on Wednesday evening with a straight-set victory over Anderson University. The win gives the Jackets a conference record of 5-2 and an overall record of 15-10.

CHICAGO – The DC volleyball team wrapped up the second and final day of the Gargoyle Classic. The day did not go as planned for the Purple and Gold, as the Jackets lost matches against No. 18 Mount Union and Carroll. Saturday marks the first time all season DC has lost two matches in one day.

CHICAGO – The Yellow Jacket volleyball squad set a team record for most aces in a match on Friday during their first match of the Gargoyle Classic. Defiance totaled an astounding 20 aces in a straight-set victory over Chatham University.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The HCAC has released its preseason coaches’ poll and DC is placed sixth out of the ten squads. The Purple and Gold received 48 points from the conference coaches. Hanover received the top spot with 88 points followed by Transylvania (86) and Bluffton (76).
