Jackets volleyball stings Muskies and Bishops for pair of shutouts

TERRA HAUTE, Ind. – It was a successful first day for the Purple and Gold volleyball squad at the Rose-Hulman tournament, as they swept both the Ohio Wesleyan Bishops and Muskingum Muskies in straight sets on Saturday, September 7.

In DC’s first contest, it defeated OWU by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-15. After a short break, Defiance was back to the court to take on Muskingum, where it put out three victorious sets of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-16. This is the second-straight season that the Yellow Jackets have topped both the Bishops and Muskies by scores of 3-0.

So far in 2013, the Jackets have been solid on Saturday, as they have racked up a 4-0 record. DC will aim for their first four-match tournament sweep since 2011-12, when it takes on the Webster Gorloks and Kenyon Lords tomorrow Sunday, September 8. The matches are slated to start at 10 am and 12 pm, respectively.
