GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2008-09 award winners for the women’s basketball season on Thursday, March 5. DC put three on the all-conference list, as Shavonda Price, Holly Stein and Tasha Stucke each received recognition.

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Defiance’s second half woes proved to be the difference in its 79-66 loss to Franklin College on Saturday, February 21. The Jackets finish their 2008-09 campaign with a 9-16 overall record and a 5-11 mark in the HCAC.

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Defiance was unable to overcome a large second-half deficit, falling to Bluffton University, 78-69, on February 18. The loss drops DC to 9-15, while eliminating the Jackets from the HCAC Tournament hunt.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance moved one step closer to a HCAC Tournament berth, claiming a 60-47 victory over Rose-Hulman on Saturday, February 14. DC closed out its 2008-09 home slate with a pair of HCAC victories to tie Bluffton for the sixth and final spot in the conference tourney.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s basketball team in association with The Hubbard Company and Defiance Clinic will be holding its Pink Zone game on Saturday, February 14, in order to help raise cancer awareness. All proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Cancer Fund.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Courtney Schmersal used a three-point barrage to score 22 points, as Defiance claimed an 80-67 victory over Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday. Schmersal hit six trifectas in the contest to help the Jackets move past the 2004-05 squad with a DC single-season record 152 treys.

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Defiance had one of its best defensive outings of the season, holding Manchester College in check in a 74-52 blowout of the defending HCAC champion. The Jackets snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory, defeating Manchester for the first time in the last nine games.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Wednesday's non-conference women's basketball contest between Defiance College and Northwestern Ohio has been postponed due to treacherous traveling conditions in the area. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 4 at 7:00 pm at Northwestern Ohio.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance dropped a 91-90 heartbreaker to Hanover College on Saturday, January 24, as Holly Vogel hit the game-winner with three seconds left on the clock. The Jackets climbed back from a 17-point second half deficit, but for the second straight game were unable to complete the comeback.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior Katie McNamara, junior Mandie White and sophomore Holly Stein were each named to the HCAC Player-to-Watch list, following the release of the 2008-09 HCAC Preseason Poll on Tuesday, October 28. Defiance was picked to finish seventh, tallying 27 points in the poll.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s basketball team recently spent a day working with Habitat for Humanity in Defiance. The team split into several work groups, helping in various areas of the home. As a whole the team helped with the roofing of the house, while also putting on siding and setting up cabinets inside the home’s kitchen.

DefianceAthletics.com will be the new home for DC’s 18 varsity athletic programs and will provide the Yellow Jacket teams with more extensive coverage than ever before.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Work has begun on an extensive three-week process to renovate Defiance College’s Karl H. Weaner Community Center. The project will include new scoreboards, new pads and athletic banners and a fresh coat of paint on the walls of the facility.
