GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its winter honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team on Wednesday, with Defiance placing seven student-athletes on the list. The seven award winners give DC five more than its 2009 winter total.

In order to be named an Academic All-HCAC selection, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year, be enrolled full-time at their institution, be a varsity athlete and possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 at the end of the semester preceding the conclusion of the fall season.

DC’s standout winter student-athletes included Kim Comden, Katie Heitkamp, Matt Rohlf, Ellen Stryffeler, Courtney Swabb, Kevin Tietje and Brooke Zachrich.
