DC Puts 20 Student-Athletes on HCAC’s Fall Academic Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its fall honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team, with Defiance placing 20 student-athletes on the list. The 20 award winners match DC’s number from the 2010 fall list, holding the increase of seven from 2008.
In order to be named an Academic All-HCAC selection, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year, be enrolled full-time at their institution, be a varsity athlete and possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 at the end of the semester preceding the conclusion of the fall season.
Defiance saw seven volleyball players be recognized among the 20 Yellow Jackets to make the list. The seven honors matched Rose-Hulman for the highest number of awards for any volleyball program within the HCAC.
DC’s standout student-athletes from the fall included James Buari, Kate Borer, Gretel Briand, Chelsea Ludeman, Lindsay McDaniel, Alexis Pierce, Jessica Tietje, Christa Seidenstricker, Luke Freels, Gene Snyder, Katie Heitkamp, Anna Kusz, Tasha Brown, Catie Savage, Kelly Beard, Phoenix Golnick, Sarah Westfall, Kate Busto, Kali George and Ellen Stryffeler.
