DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College will be joining up with the NCAA to celebrate Division III Week from April 9-15. DC will use the week to recognize the many academic achievements, athletic accomplishments and committed involvement in leadership, community and campus activities of its student-athletes.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - A time lapse video of the complete construction of DC's brand new George M. Smart Athletic Center is now available. The building of The George can now be viewed in a 75-second video clip containing photos from an online web cam that tracked the progress throughout the duration of the project.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – DC celebrated the official opening of the George M. Smart Athletic Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday. The field house, known as The George, will serve as the recreational hub of the DC campus, while offering an indoor training facility for the Jackets’ 22 varsity athletic programs.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The floor inside the 84,000-square foot George M. Smart Athletic Center is installed and the lines were finished Thursday. The Smart Fitness Center will be moved in and open inside the facility as the Buchman Fitness Center on February 13, with the entire facility projected to be open by late February.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College shaved 13 shots off of its opening round score from Saturday, when it fired a 385 in Sunday’s final round of the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Jackets ended the eight-team event in sixth place with a 36-hole tally of 783.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships got underway on Saturday at the Eagle Rock Golf Club, with Defiance ending the opening 18 holes of action just five strokes outside of the top five.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s golf team wrapped up its regular season schedule on Sunday, with a sixth-place showing at the Capital Invitational. DC will close its 2011 campaign on October 8 and 9, when it hosts the HCAC Championships at Eagle Rock Golf Club.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s golf squad hosted six other Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foes at Eagle Rock Golf Club on Sunday for the HCAC Invitational. Sarah Westfall paced the Jackets for the third time this season, by finishing in 20th position.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – A trio of Yellow Jackets notched top-10 finishes for the women’s golf team, leading DC to a second-place showing at its three-team Defiance Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club. Sarah Westfall, Kelly Beard and Taylor Tuttle all finished among the top-nine competitors on Monday.

WABASH, Ind. – The Defiance College women’s golf team continued its fall season on Saturday, with a single-round at the Manchester Invitational. The Jackets ended eighth in the 11-team field with a final score of 404.

As part of the festivities, the building was officially named the George M. Smart Athletic Center.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The DCAC construction project has entered a new phase, as the outer mainframe of the 84,000 square-foot facility has been finished. Recent work has included the installing of the facilities outer walls and the laying of the dark red bricks that will line the lower portion of the outside of the field house.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - A recent stretch of long and dry summer days has allowed significant progress to be made on the ongoing construction of DC's new field house. The steel mainframe of the 84,000 square-foot facility is nearly complete and initial work continues on the north extension of the building.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The frame of the future DCAC continues to take shape, as work has started on the roof of the field house. Ground work is also now being done on the north extension of the building, which will house the weight room, athletic training room, Smart Fitness Center, offices and a reception area.
