DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets from Cedarville University used a second half offensive explosion to defeat Defiance College. Cedarville netted three goals after the break to separate itself from Defiance after going into halftime all tied up at one goal apiece.

Freshman forward Alicia Ledford got the offense going midway through the first half as she scored the game’s first goal in the 27th minute. Ledford broke in from the right side of the box and drew the keeper off her line while placing a beautifully executed chip over the keeper’s head and into the net.

The lead would not last long for DC as 10 minutes later Cedarville knotted the game up at 1-1. Kelsey Watkins played a perfect ball into the path of Kristie Wolff who finished past the Defiance keeper. The game remained tied going into halftime.

After the break Cedarville had all the confidence and momentum it needed to finish DC. Morgan Ziegler put the visitors up for good when she got possession of the ball from a corner and slotted it past the DC keeper for a 2-1 lead.

Cedarville went on to score two more goals and won by a score of 4-1.

Defiance College is next in action on Thursday, September 8 when it will host Ursuline College at 4 p.m. at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.
