Defiance Posts First-Ever Victory in Women's Swimming

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket women’s swimming and diving team recorded a win in its very first competition in the program’s history. Defiance hosted a dual meet against Alma College and Ursuline College. DC defeated Ursuline by a score of 66.00 to 15.00 and was defeated by Alma by a total of 71.00 to 34.00. Yellow Jacket freshman Emilee Boleyn had a great showing for the first meet of the year. Boleyn won both of the individual events that she competed in and helped Defiance to a second place finish in the relay she was in. Boleyn won the 50 yard freestyle by over a second posting a time of 25.79, and she was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 102.81. Another noteworthy performance on the afternoon was the one of Jacqueline Loock, who recorded a first and second place finish. Loock won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.93 and was runner-up in the 1,000 yard freestyle posting a time of 12:05.83. The Jackets will be able to build off the sound first performance of the season. The result means the Defiance is now 1-1 on the young season. DC is next in action on Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m. The Jackets will host Franklin College in the meet. |
